What are the English language requirements for admission?
All our online master’s degrees are taught in English. To apply, you’ll need at least a GCSE grade 4 or C in English (or an equivalent qualification). Some courses may require a higher level. If you receive a conditional offer, we’ll let you know the specific University of Southampton (UoS) English Language Band you need to meet. You can download the English Language Proficiency Bands (2024 entry) for details.
Why is an English language proficiency test required?
The test ensures you have the English skills needed to understand course materials, participate in discussions, and complete assignments successfully.

How recent must my English language test results be?
All English Language Tests must be taken within two years of the course start date specified in your offer letter.
What happens if webinars take place in a different time zone?
Webinars are recorded and made available for you to watch at a time that suits your schedule. Like the rest of your course materials, you’ll be able to access your webinar replays at any time through Blackboard, your online learning platform.
